This is day 5 at Harbor Beach and although it's a great little marina with nice folks, we are ready to move on. Lousy wx again today with rain and cloud and winds S 14-22mph and waves 2-3+ ft in the lake! Not cruising wx for the likes of us. Gets downright depressing.

A couple of cruisers came in this a.m. - a 48' Searay Sundancer and a 55' Viking; don't know where from.

Trying to reserve a slip for July 3 and still no luck in Little Traverse Bay; so will either anchor or might still get a First-Come-First-Served slip at the Mackinaw City Municipal Marina.

Have been able to catch up on some documentation re inventory, etc. And, reading another novel.

From the Admirals Desk:

.....Another nasty weather day. It looks like the gray Atlantic. We are both getting pretty tired of this. Phooey! I made what I hope is a final trip to the gas station for groceries before we leave. Transportation is always an issue. I'm thinking of baking cookies. We have none, didn't buy any, and my book isn't a real page turner. I generally prefer cooking over baking. I enjoy messing with seasoning combinations and use recipes as a starting point. Baking requires more following the recipe and measuring!

.....It's looking less likely we will leave tomorrow. The forecast now includes thunderstorms. There are still 3' waves, marine and small craft advisories, and visibility is 1/4 mi. Nasty. We decided we'd rather be bored here than miserable in bad conditions.

That's all for today. PS. Today is Jeff's birthday!🎂🎂🎂

Planning: hopefully in Harrisville, 65 miles NW, tomorrow. Trying to plan a car excursion after we leave Mackinaw City but the auto rentals have no cars. So we will do what we can around marinas and just keep heading for home.

Ernie R  •  26 Jun, 2021 - Bad conditions keep you on your toes so no time to get bored! It can’t be rough the whole 65 miles!

Ann R  •  26 Jun, 2021 - Hey y’all, sorry the weather is so miserable! Just hang tight & surely it will change soon. Missed you tonight on the quarterdeck for lowcountry boil. It was good & several boaters asked about you. I just finished a great book by Admiral William H McRaven. Sea Stories - My Life in Special Operations. Really interesting & easy read. Cookies & milk sound good about now! Bet the Captain would really appreciate them!

Deedee  •  26 Jun, 2021 - Better to be safe than sorry! Crazy weather.

Joan  •  26 Jun, 2021 - Good to talk to you yesterday. Hope you can travel tomorrow!

Brian W.  •  26 Jun, 2021 - I guess this is sort of like being "in irons," but at the dock! Sounds frustrating. Hope you enjoyed the novels...

Ernie R  •  26 Jun, 2021 - You did it! At least from the map.
