Day's Events:

Wx - cloudy, humid, 80's [feels like 90's], rain off and on. Winds remain brisk, causing quite a bit of 'chop' which keeps us 'rockin'/rollin' most of the time, which in turn causes some near-vertigo, but today we both are affected. Despite 3 mo. on the boat, our brains haven't adapted. We have decided to buy stock in Dramamine/Gravol. I added a stern spring line across to the 'open' side and removed the inside short one to reduce our risk of tripping; and another spring line for the opposite direction [spring lines keep the boat from moving forward, or backward, depending on the direction of the line from the boat to the dock cleat]. Might help reduce all the R&R [rockin & rollin] we are having.

Hair style/cut - Marg went to a salon next to Publix; the only patron in the place with 10 stylists chairs, and came out feeling 'shorn' - had a "pixie" cut, which actually looks good on her. Reminds me of the response of various women in the cartoon pages who've had an unexpectedly shorter-than-good-god cut and when will this grow back!?

I drove the courtesy car to True Value Hardware and pick up a 3/8" wood dowel [4' long] and 3/8" smooth galvanized metal rod - to push out a fender line stuck inside the fender center hole before it pulls out in a storm and we lose it.

Anniversary supper - went via Uber to 39 Rue de Jean in downtown old Charleston; distancing for tables, staff wear masks, everything is wiped/sanitized between diners. Our first "dine-in" since the distancing restrictions began. Glad it was a great dinner and a great restaurant.

MECHANICAL:

Engine Room cleaning - vacuumed and cleaned most of the alley between and under the engines. Replaced a couple of oil soak pads - white, can see quickly if anything leaking, etc. Hot job today; probably got a little dehydrated, since I still haven't learned to come 'up for air' and drink water when I'm in the middle of something, for which the Admiral chastises me repeatedly.

Oil Samples - collected samples, sent via mail, and will receive an email report, re contaminants, which helps to decide if the hole-in-the-water requires an oil change now; if the report, will defer an oil change for another 100 hrs probably. The sample should be taken after the engine has been run for a few minutes, then wait a few minutes for the oil to 'drop' back into the oil pan; the clear tubing is cut to enable just enough to reach the oil and the pump pulls it into a collection bottle [about 3oz]. Doesn't take very long to do.

The Captain fell asleep while typing (self induced fatigue and dehydration ) so I'll finish up for today. Stay safe and keep in touch. We appreciate your comments on the blog. Good night all.

PS - I have shopped a dozen Publix since we left Florence!!😄 And it's going to take at least two months for my hair to grow back to normal!
