Days Events:

Wx - started in fine rain but settled to just clouds; warm in the 80's; winds 5-10. No problems. Nice travelling.

Travel - left Thunderbolt at 08:25, arriving in Beaufort, SC, Lady's I. Marina, at 13:55, 47 miles/80km over 5.5hr. No bridges to deal with. Had one concern at Fields Cut, a1.5 mile channel north from the Savannah R., which our navigation system, Navionics, would not allow us to autoroute through due to 'low depths', and kept taking us 'outside' the ICW into the Atlantic; we had already checked a couple of sources and the depths were fine, over 10 ft. So to overcome this impass, I just programmed two legs into the trip, the first to the south end of Fields C., and the 2nd to start at the north end of it, leaving us to navigate it on our own, which is not that difficult for only a couple of miles; never saw less than 10 feet of depth, staying in the center of the channel. So there, Navionics!!!

Passed by Parris Island, the Marine Corps Recruit Depot - i.e. training for raw recruits - see photo. A photo of what looks like a huge loudspeaker/siren, but can't find a reference to it. [didn't think Marine platoon sergeants ever needed a loudspeaker]

Actually nicer travelling in cloudy skies with occasional mild rain, compared to hot bright sun; keeps the crazies off the water and allow us to see the water surface easier. More peaceful to us both.

Lady's Island Marina is nice spot, fantastic dockmaster Tom; they have a massage office, yoga room, DIY workshop for boaters, great restaurant Dockside, with two others <1blk away, solid floating docks, courtesy car for short trips.

Fishing - it is amazing - no matter where we go, someone is fishing!! Either in a boat, on the shore, off a bridge, or wherever. Haven't seen anyone catch anything yet though. Fishermen must be patient.

Photos - a shot of the Hilton Head Island shoreline showing a trend of concentrated valuable properties. A pic of a 'green & white' buoy on the Beaufort River - can't read the number since it, and other green ones, seem to be the favorite spots for pelican perching and gastrointestinal relief. Not seen on the red buoys.

MECHANICAL:

Sorry Ernie Rivard, but nothing to report (today). All oils/fluids/belts are good!!

We will be getting a takeout from Dockside Restaurant tonight. Tomorrow, will rent a car to do some touristy things; maybe a hardware store for a female hose connector and windshield wiper blades; and???. Carry on as usual.
