Events of the Day:

Travel - Left at 09:30. Their Pumpout boat wasn't available, so we deferred the PO until Brunswick. Sunrise was nice [see photos].

Departing dock bit tricky due to easterly wind pushing us against it and us being tight between other boats. New looper friends helped to control a bow line, while I used a 'spring' line to pivot the stern away from the dock, into the wind, and once the stern was clear of the boat aft of us, we powered straight back in the channel and spun around to exit the marina. Using the 'spring' line in this manner was a first for us - and it worked well [the spring line runs from the boat's cleat aft, to keep the boat from moving forward, and when power is 'gently' applied forward the stern will spin outward - a point of simple physics]. Marg releases the one end of the spring line once the stern is clear and pulls it in [it is only 'looped' to the dock cleat so you can do that].

Our new friends advised us about St.Andrew's Sounds winds and waves, so we chose a different approach to avoid a potentially shallow area, which worked well, though we were a little nervous seeing only 5 ft of water under us on two occasions there. We used four [4] electronic devices to monitor our channel travel and both depth sonars and a print map. The channel next to Jekyll Island was at low tide and we had only 4-5ft most of the time under us and could almost reach out and touch the mud/grass along the sides!!

US Navy Base King's Bay - submarine base - didn't realize that's what it was until after passing it.

Wx - winds were brisk in the 3 Sounds but we were protected otherwise. Sun, blue skies, 85F with less humidity. Crossing the Sounds, waves were 2-3ft, white caps; Marg took extra Gravol/Dramamine; but that rock'n'rollin only lasted maybe 1/2 hr.

Photos - Fernandina Harbor Marina, and the idle cruise ship. Also, the narrow channel and markers; one of a 'Range' marker - pairs which lined up tell you if you are in the channel.

MECHANICAL: Voltages - end of day = 13.4v, 12.8v, and 13.4v for the port start, house, and stbd start respectively!!

We have confirmed reservations at Sunbury Crab Co [marina] for Thursday and then at Thunderbolt Marina near Savannah.

So, carry on distancing until we all see what is going to happen; and carry on keeping in touch.
