Events of the Day:

This is our last posting from OBM. We paid our fees and in the morning head for Carrabelle, FL, with two nights anchoring before we arrive there Saturday to a reserved slip - and several packages from Amazon. Weather looks good for the travel. We will be sad to leave this great marina, our almost-a-home-away-from-home during the covid-19 stayathome order [lifted here effective tomorrow]; but look forward to new adventures. The boat is as ready as it can be, with all systems go. [until something else happens!!] Just had a large rain/windstorm, but now sunny 73F/22C; the storm made Marg decide to bake choc.chip cookies. Storms can be ok.

There are tons of large fishing yachts here and today I chatted with the young crew of a 75ft Viking getting ready to head out for the weekend: they carry 3,100 gal of diesel and cruise at 24knots, but can run at 40 knots [44mph], and will go to a fishing ground over a 100 miles offshore for a couple of days. They have 40ft outriggers on each side which drop down 4 lines each to attract fish, looking for Marlin, etc; as well as individual poles for the people paying to go deep-sea fishing. They also have the 'big chair' on the stern for someone who manages to hook a really big one. Marg researched these boats: we have 3 moored behind us along the face of our dock, 2 are 75 ft, 1 is 95 ft, each worth well over several million [she figures $10M total, plus 3 crew each].

As most of you know, Marg and I are originally Canadian, so friend Duane McCartney sent me this great video about Canada and Canadians: it's a 'feel good' item, whether you are Canadian or otherwise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37nGeXn2K9c

For entertainment, we watched Season One, Episode 1 of the original Miss Marple [with Joan Hickson] last night; a 3 part whodunit and excellent in the Agatha Christie fashion. Will finish part 3 tonight, eating a ginger-miso rice pork loin deli supper Marg bought at Publix, followed probably by a few HM [home made] CCC [choc.chip.cookies]. It's a tough but necessary thing I have to do.

Tomorrow night, we should be anchored on the east side of the Choctawhactee Bay Bridge, 82 miles from here. Friday on to 'Oxbow' anchorage on Searcy Creek, NW of Lake Wimico, FL [85 miles] . Then, Carrabelle, FL on Sat. [46 miles] Keep distancing and in touch.
