Days Events:

Wx - well, Mother Nature [i.e. God] is very obviously in control. I commented yesterday that "assuming the wx doesn't change...", etc -- well the wx did change, to rain and TSM starting at 05:00 and lasting to the afternoon; looking at the radar and I had some sphincter spasms thinking about being on a 22 x 10 mile lake in TSM; hoped we might travel this pm after the storms had passed but by then the winds had flipped to westerly and we would be running headlong into large fetch related waves - so took the prudent path and stayed here today. Tomorrow's forecast has WNW winds at 3-4 mph in the morning and no storms, so we will go then. It is supposed to be pleasure boating!

We decided to make todays blog an on-going commentary since we are 'stuck' on the bulkhead in Sylvan Beach in rain and TSM.

It is a dull, rainy, thundering day; glad we didn't try to cross the lake.

So did some cleaning of the hull where the fenders rubbed off the gunk from the locks the past few days. Looked at buying another black fender for next year and some 50 ft black dock spring lines to use in situations like today - need to loop back to the boat. Will buy next spring and have shipped to Horizon likely.

Also siphoned the water out of the dinghy - then it started to rain hard again! Will naturally have to repeat this process later - we have decided to sell the folding/portable dinghy and get a proper RIB [Rigid Inflatable Boat], smaller than our current 12' [likely 8.5'], and use the propane outboard we have. Had considered installing a davit suspension system on the transom/swim platform for carrying the dinghy, but being relatively realistic about our chance of using it next year, may forego the transom location and just keep it up top, on the sundeck, again -- being smaller, it should be more easily maneuvered than the PortaBote.

15:30 - rain finally stopped for awhile; can see the sky lightening in the West; walked to the point on the lake here and took a photo of the view we will face first thing tomorrow. Pleasant change in temp from the heat. Few people about compared to yesterday.

Heavy rain and thundering and even a tornado siren! Where do you hide during a tornado on a boat?? And it's chilly! We went from a 2 shirt sweat day to turning the heat on (mostly for Rob) this morning within 48 hrs.

A day for chores and decisions about what needs to be done before we put the boat into storage. I'm not cleaning beyond daily stuff. Will do the big clean in the spring. I've meant to clean all the mini blinds since day one. I finally found a solution to how awful they look - I pulled them up tight behind the valence and out of sight out of mind!😁😁 I'll decide in the spring whether to have them cleaned or replaced. The reflective windows prevent anyone from seeing in anyway.

Spitting barnacles! We forgot to mention yesterday that the barnacles on the lock walls spit at us. Hundreds of the little spitters covering the slimy walls! Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey!!

Late addition: boat watch. An Absolute 50' just passed by. Quite new therefore $$$ with very "swoopy" lines and unusual windows. Won't be going on our favorites list.

Photos - Marg took her nocturnal one - included the moon this time. Also, she grabbed a shot of a couple of young kayakers going by our boat.

Tomorrow - will leave around 07:30 and should be there by 10:00.

That's all for today.

Stay safe.
