Days Events:

Wx - 73/82 - almost cool! Except humidity 98% after raining all night and was supposed to continue off and on today; but have had nothing. Waters calm though, which is a nice change from the constant rocking we've had since being on the East coast.

Shopping - I took my e-bike into town, 1 mile, and bought some groceries at a local corner store; nice place with good quality variety. Almost all patrons were wearing a mask as were all staff; arrows directed aisle traffic.

Non-shopping - I took the pruners/clippers to my head. Sorted the lines hanging on the aft deck. Read more of 'Dispatches from Pluto'.

Helped a 56' Prestige dock next to us - the slips are 17' and his beam is 15'8", with only 8" to spare on each side - just a bit snug.!!

Photos - some of the entry to this marina - nice yards/landscaping; the 'Farm House' is for rent and is the first thing seen as come into the compound; the other photo shows the yard behind the farm house and hints of the Inn/Restaurant.

Admirals Desk:

HAHA!! Almost cool! The air feels like gumbo!!

Another day of the usual odd jobs, some de-cluttering, and - this is a big one - I cleaned out my purse!😁

We're going to walk thru the gumbo to the outside patio of the restaurant here for happy hour today. Seems like a bit of variety should be good for us.

Update on happy hour. Restaurant requires reservations even for drinks on their outside deck, which is just a screened area behind the restaurant, not even waterview. Not worth the effort. We are going to attempt takeout from another close-by restaurant.

Up date on the other restaurant/bar/grill - no take-out either! Eating in again!

The marina is busy. There are several boats being loaded up with provisions and lots of people around. A friendly group.

That's all for today.

Maintenance:

Strainer - decided to check/clean a/c strainer; really not much in it and flow was good; so did a quick basket clean w/o emptying the water from the bowl and added a piece of copper [actually a pipe elbow] in the basket to see if it will stop the barnacles, etc. Didn't have to prime the pump!! Will leave it likely for a week now, unless my daily post-travel review finds it needs to be done.

Degreasing - finished 3 sides of the stbd engine - still have the outboard side, next to the holding tank, to do; too hot to spend too long at it, even with a fan, supplied by the admiral, blowing on me from above. Will do more at each stop until done both. No signs of untoward drippings or loose connections, etc.

Holding Tank Monitor - the 'old' one still registers 62%, even after I 'tapped' it a few times; so that means we either have pee/poop spontaneous evaporation between the toilet and the tank, or, the sending unit float is stuck in its shaft [some sticky 'material'?]. So, obviously rinsing the tank was not a solution as hoped. Eyeball confirmation suggests ~80% today.

As for the 'newer' one, since it is 'stuck' on 'FULL', I'll try re-calibrating it when 'FULL' , just before our next pumpout, which will be tomorrow at Bohemia Bay; the instructions allow for calibration when 'empty' or when 'full' - since the former has failed x2, will try the latter and if it fails, I'll move one of the foil strips a half inch away from the other one, as suggested in their troubleshooting; and if miracles do happen in poop-land it will then work!

Winterizing Plans - contacted Horizon Marina in the Thous.Is. regarding possible work to be done and the process for haul-out, etc, once we arrive on Sept.15. V.helpful and will send them a list for estimates.

Covid - new guidelines from CDC suggest only 10 days quarantine now necessary if you have a positive test and are asymptomatic or from the first day of symptoms if sick.

That's all.

Tomorrow - we head for Bohemian Bay Yacht Harbor, 42 miles north of here and just before the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal.

Stay safe.

Comments:

Jerry - 25 Jul 2020: We relly liked Delaware City all 3 times there. No stops in Delaware Bay so check weather: you do not want to cross it with beam seas. We got knocked around badly on one of our crossings. -Robert & Margaret - 25 Jul 2020: Jerry, thanks for the reminder. Have been looking at forecasts and tides and will discuss with the dockmaster at Delaware City. So far, looks ok for the 29th.
