Was it leaking and who serviced it last?!

Don't know yet. That will be the 'Duct Tape post-tightening the clamp' test. Haven't a clue about servicing history. Assuming I change the fitting, will likely have coolant all over the place?? Any suggestions how to minimize that?

I would loosen clamp and rotate it so screw part beds into different part of hose and make sure it is square to hose all the way around as you tighten it. If cocked to one side as shown in picture it will go in that direction as you tighten it. If it leaks try adding another clamp (I double clamp everything if have room). If have to drain I would siphon heat exchanger and look for lowest block drain you can get pan/bucket under but will be messy!
