Events of the Day:
Wx - Mostly cloudy, but pleasant; no rain. T = 90F+. Humid - what's new. Wind only 4-8 mph.
Travel - Passed through 'Hell Gate', called such because many have run aground if not paying attention to staying within the channel. Passed one sailboat, same one as yesterday; had a couple power cruisers pass us, but they called and slowed. Tidal currents are more evident lately, 2-3 mph which either is great if it's in our favor but requires more power if it is against us.
Thunderbolt Marina - Nice spot, 6 miles SE of historic Savannah. A working boat yard but with a nice transients area and docks [see photos]. Tide here is 8ft but they have 20' of depth in the channel and 20' at dockside, so no problems for us even at low tide.
Photos - one attempting to show the marshes and the serpentine channel in and out of them, so you can see a boat ahead of you but it may be 1-2 miles by water! Several of the marina; another one of the barnacles and seashells, up close, on a dock post visible at low tide.
MECHANICAL:
A/C Strainer - usual ER [Engine Room] review last eve looked like A/C strainer was full of barnacles again! Today, pulled out strainer and not much gunk actually; the barnacles were only the remnants of their footprints - no new ones. Fortunately, the a/c relay pump didn't lose its prime and the a/c compressors kicked back in, so I didn't have to pul the 'use the wet-dry vac to suck up priming water' trick.
While I was doing the strainer, Marg vacuumed the salon and pilothouse; after having cleaned all the toilets/heads/etc. She then cleaned the strainer for me - a dedicated Admiral not afraid to get her hands dirty!! :)
Oils, etc are all fine. Ernie Rivard said he missed the 'Mechanical' problems - I told him "it's me who has to fix stuff and 'no-report' is a really good report!!"
Hope everyone remains well. Tomorrow we hope to tour the Savannah Botanical Gdns.
