Days Events:

Wx - cooling off, 85/61 forecast, mostly cloudy. Nice.

Travel - we still have a tidal effect that we can feel - a 'wobbliness' even though it is mild - we are likely too sensitized to it. Although others have reported the same sensations too.

Photos - took a few of the marina - the office and dockside restaurant [called Towers] - has a quaint look to it - thought I saw snowshoes lined up between the office and restaurant, but went to look and they are metal trellis decorations leaning against a divider. They have a great picnic area, playground, pool, grass and weeping willows.

Marina - this is the only spot to get fuel on the creek and plays host to a real range of boats and people; we love to watch people and there is no shortage of types it seems; but they all have one thing in common - a boat! Although some, not the apparent captain, who don't look like they really want to be in one.

Admirals Desk:

An update on the 75' behind us. After some spying I finally identified it. It's a Princess 72.$$$$ An older couple are the apparent owners. There is a crew of 2 guys (30ish, not unattractive), who pilot/maintain the boat, serve breakfast on the aft deck etc., and a caregiver. Nice way to travel. Trying to get a photo but it's too big! And fortunately they're planning to leave before us tomorrow so our departure will be much simpler. Pretty sure we can keep our anchor from punching a hole in the dinghy in front of us.

We're really enjoying river travel. Peaceful with lovely scenery.

I'm also doing a bit of cleaning. Plan to do the aft windows when the sun moves away.

Since its cooler today and the Captain has no cookies or muffins I may consider baking something.

Still haven't washed any windows. I haven't moved from contemplating to procrastinating.😁. The day is not over.

I did manage to make some scones.

Re Robs comment about the marina being busy. There has been a constant line-up of up to 5 boats waiting for fuel. Even with it being very busy we have not been waked even once!

After much contemplating it seems practical to delay washing the back windows until our next stop when we wash the back of the boat and can hose them off first.

It's a lovely evening here. The first without heat and humidity.

That's all for today.

Maintenance:

Cleaning hull - used Instant Hull Cleaner to take off the port side 'mustache' - slick as a wink. Then, used Spray Nine on the 'smoke' staining on the transom; only partially effective - will need Cleaner Wax.

Washed the pilothouse windows, in & out, under the watchful eye of the Admiral; she vacuumed and wiped all surfaces [as usual], using 409; the windows had not been done properly since we started - now feels much better.

Beer - I had J.W.Red Scotch last night, so could not in good faith report on a beer. However, tonight, will have an American Pale Ale from Cricket Hill Brewery in Fairfield, NJ, which I bought at the ships store in Liberty Landing Marina, Jersey City. It is smooth, not as 'hoppy' as the IPA's tend to be, so more refreshing for me anyway. [still not as good as my gold standard - Boddington's]

Covid - staff are consistent in masking; boaters are not.

That's all today.

Tomorrow - we head to Donovan's Shady Harbor Marina, 42 miles, for 5 days stay. It has great reputation among loopers. Will hopefully get an Enterprise car from Albany [14 miles north] so we can do some grocery shopping and see an 'old' friend [i.e. same age as me - we were in school together from Grade 1 to end of university!] who lives in East Chatham.

We also just had confirmation that the Canada-US border will remain closed essentially for the boating season so we now have no options but to stay on the American shore of the St.Lawrence R. when traveling to Alexandria Bay in the Thousand Is. to put the boat up for the winter.

Please stay safe.
