Days Events:

Wx - 72/94, wds SW 7, hot/humid.

Travel - left York R. at 07:40, cruised 36 miles in 3.7 hr arriving at Deltaville at 11:30, averaged 10 mph, swinging wide around two points to avoid the shallow spits - adds a few miles, but better than running aground after allowing oneself to be deceived by 'open' water - which is only 3-4ft deep!. Some 1-3 ft waves with whitecaps, but mostly on our stern, so a nice ride.

Marina - nice, total 80 slips; great staff helped docking, especially with W wind pushing us in; picked up two Amazon packets.

Photos - one of our Dock D - the usual mix of boats, but more big trawler types and all in good condition; one of us beside a piling - note how tall the piling is - likely related to potential for storm surges, since the docks are floating.

From the Desk of the Admiral: A pretty easy travel day, a bit rolly to start. But, a "making progress" day. Cruising in the Chesapeake! We've had other stops that we called progress events: finally getting thru the TennTom, crossing the gulf, crossing Lake Okeechobee, finally heading north on the AICW, crossing the Dismals, and into states we've never visited before. Everyday is truly an adventure. Life is good! The adventure also includes endless searching for red and green channel markers and stupid crab pots.

We have firmly decided we are fair weather, wussy/woozy boaters and are content to wait for a better day. We can handle unexpected wx but prefer to avoid the challenge. A good lesson learned a while back, hence our one day delay to Deltaville. My ongoing motion sensitivity also influences some trip decisions. Good night all.

Mechanics: Throttle - worked great; smooth as silk. Engines ran well - must like the new oil.

Tomorrow, will replace the two battery switches/circuit breakers which now are here. Will wash the port side and eliminate the 'mustache' since we are tied to the port; will do the stbd at Solomons with a stbd tie up.

Take care, stay safe in the face of this new surge of covid19. That is why we are not really going to 'tourist' places.
